The Hope Of The Streets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB

The still sweet meadows shimmered and I stoodA
And cursed them bloom of hedge and bird of treeB
And bright and high beyond the hunch backed woodA
The thunder and the splendour of the seaB
-
Give back the Babylon where I was bornC
The lips that gape give back the hands that gropeD
And noise and blood and suffocating scornC
An eddy of fierce faces and a hopeD
-
That 'mid those myriad heads one head find placeE
With brown hair curled like breakers of the seaB
And two eyes set so strangely in the faceE
That all things else are nothing suddenlyB
