A Fairy Tale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCD EEFFGG HHBBII JJKKLL

All things grew upwards foul and fairA
The great trees fought and beat the airA
With monstrous wings that would have flownB
But the old earth clung to her ownB
Holding them back from heavenly warsC
Though every flower sprang at the starsD
-
But he broke free while all things ceasedE
Some hour increasing he increasedE
The town beneath him seemed a mapF
Above the church he cocked his capF
Above the cross his feather flewG
Above the birds and still he grewG
-
The trees turned grass the clouds were rivenH
His feet were mountains lost in heavenH
Through strange new skies he rose aloneB
The earth fell from him like a stoneB
And his own limbs beneath him farI
Seemed tapering down to touch a starI
-
He reared his head shaggy and grimJ
Staring among the cherubimJ
The seven celestial floors he rentK
One crystal dome still o'er him bentK
Above his head more clear than hopeL
All heaven was a microscopeL
