Thekla - A Spirit Voice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAA BCBD EFEF GHGH AIAI EFEF

Whither was it that my spirit wendedA
When from thee my fleeting shadow movedA
Is not now each earthly conflict endedA
Say have I not lived have I not lovedA
-
Art thou for the nightingales inquiringB
Who entranced thee in the early yearC
With their melody so joy inspiringB
Only whilst they loved they lingered hereD
-
Is the lost one lost to me foreverE
Trust me with him joyfully I strayF
There where naught united souls can severE
And where every tear is wiped awayF
-
And thou too wilt find us in yon heavenG
When thy love with our love can compareH
There my father dwells his sins forgivenG
Murder foul can never reach him thereH
-
And he feels that him no vision cheatedA
When he gazed upon the stars on highI
For as each one metes to him 'tis metedA
Who believes it hath the Holy nighI
-
Faith is kept in those blest regions yonderE
With the feelings true that ne'er decayF
Venture thou to dream then and to wanderE
Noblest thoughts oft lie in childlike playF
