The Words Of Error Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHIHJJ KLKLMM NONOPP

Three errors there are that forever are foundA
On the lips of the good on the lips of the bestB
But empty their meaning and hollow their soundA
And slight is the comfort they bring to the breastB
The fruits of existence escape from the claspC
Of the seeker who strives but those shadows to graspC
-
So long as man dreams of some age in this lifeD
When the right and the good will all evil subdueE
For the right and the good lead us ever to strifeD
And wherever they lead us the fiend will pursueE
And till from the earth borne and stifled at lengthF
The earth that he touches still gifts him with strengthF
-
So long as man fancies that fortune will liveG
Like a bride with her lover united with worthH
For her favors alas to the mean she will giveI
And virtue possesses no title to earthH
That foreigner wanders to regions afarJ
Where the lands of her birthright immortally areJ
-
So long as man dreams that to mortals a giftK
The truth in her fulness of splendor will shineL
The veil of the goddess no earth born may liftK
And all we can learn is to guess and divineL
Dost thou seek in a dogma to prison her formM
The spirit flies forth on the wings of the stormM
-
O noble soul fly from delusions like theseN
More heavenly belief be it thine to adoreO
Where the ear never hearkens the eye never seesN
Meet the rivers of beauty and truth evermoreO
Not without thee the streams there the dull seek them NoP
Look within thee behold both the fount and the flowP
