The Greatness Of The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFG HHCCII CHHCH HCCCHH

Through the world which the Spirit creative and kindA
First formed out of chaos I fly like the windA
Until on the strandB
Of its billows I landB
My anchor cast forth where the breeze blows no moreC
And Creation's last boundary stands on the shoreC
-
I saw infant stars into being ariseD
For thousands of years to roll on through the skiesD
I saw them in playE
Seek their goal far awayE
For a moment my fugitive gaze wandered onF
I looked round me and lo all those bright stars had flownG
-
Madly yearning to reach the dark kingdom of nightH
I boldly steer on with the speed of the lightH
All misty and drearC
The dim heavens appearC
While embryo systems and seas at their sourceI
Are whirling around the sun wanderer's courseI
-
When sudden a pilgrim I see drawing nearC
Along the lone path quot Stay What seekest thou here quotH
quot My bark tempest tossedH
I sail toward the land where the breeze blows no moreC
And Creation's last boundary stands on the shore quotH
-
quot Stay thou sailest in vain 'Tis INFINITY yonder quotH
quot 'Tis INFINITY too where thou pilgrim wouldst wanderC
Eagle thoughts that aspireC
Let your proud pinions tireC
For 'tis here that sweet phantasy bold to the lastH
Her anchor in hopeless dejection must cast quotH
