The German Art Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDC EEFDDF CCGHHG

By no kind Augustus rearedA
To no Medici endearedB
German art aroseC
Fostering glory smiled not on herD
Ne'er with kingly smiles to sun herD
Did her blooms uncloseC
-
No she went by monarchs slightedE
Went unhonored unrequitedE
From high Frederick's throneF
Praise and pride be all the greaterD
That man's genius did create herD
From man's worth aloneF
-
Therefore all from loftier mountainsC
Purer wells and richer fountainsC
Streams our poet artG
So no rule to curb its rushingH
All the fuller flows it gushingH
From its deep the heartG

Friedrich Schiller
