The Flowers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDCCD EFEGEEHCCH IJIJKKLAAL

Ye offspring of the morning sunA
Ye flowers that deck the smiling plainB
Your lives in joy and bliss begunA
In Nature's love unchanged remainB
With hues of bright and godlike splendorC
Sweet Flora graced your forms so tenderC
And clothed ye in a garb of lightD
Spring's lovely children weep foreverC
For living souls she gave ye neverC
And ye must dwell in endless nightD
-
The nightingale and lark still singE
In your tranced ears the bliss of loveF
The toying sylphs on airy wingE
Around your fragrant bosoms roveG
Of yore Dione's daughter twiningE
In garlands sweet your cup so shiningE
A pillow formed where love might restH
Spring's gentle children mourn foreverC
The joys of love she gave ye neverC
Ne'er let ye know that feeling blestH
-
But when ye're gathered by my handI
A token of my love to beJ
Now that her mother's harsh commandI
From Nanny's sight has banished meJ
E'en from that passing touch ye borrowK
Those heralds mute of pleasing sorrowK
Life language hearts and souls divineL
And to your silent leaves 'tis givenA
By Him who mightiest is in heavenA
His glorious Godhead to enshrineL
