The Conflict Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHHH IJIJ KHKH

No I this conflict longer will not wageA
The conflict duty claims the giant taskB
Thy spells O virtue never can assuageA
The heart's wild fire this offering do not askB
-
True I have sworn a solemn vow have swornC
That I myself will curb the self withinD
Yet take thy wreath no more it shall be wornC
Take back thy wreath and leave me free to sinD
-
Rent be the contract I with thee once madeE
She loves me loves me forfeit be the crownF
Blessed he who lulled in rapture's dreamy shadeE
Glides as I glide the deep fall gladly downF
-
She sees the worm that my youth's bloom decaysG
She sees my spring time wasted as it fleesH
And marvelling at the rigor that gainsaysH
The heart's sweet impulse my reward decreesH
-
Distrust this angel purity fair soulI
It is to guilt thy pity armeth meJ
Could being lavish its unmeasured wholeI
It ne'er could give a gift to rival theeJ
-
Thee the dear guilt I ever seek to shunK
O tyranny of fate O wild desiresH
My virtue's only crown can but be wonK
In that last breath when virtue's self expiresH
