Dithyramb Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB ADED FGHIJ KLAM MNOON PQRQ

Believe me togetherA
The bright gods come everA
Still as of oldB
Scarce see I Bacchus the giver of joyC
Than comes up fair Eros the laugh loving boyC
And Phoebus the stately beholdB
-
They come near and nearerA
The heavenly ones allD
The gods with their presenceE
Fill earth as their hallD
-
Say how shall I welcomeF
Human and earthbornG
Sons of the skyH
Pour out to me pour the full life that ye liveI
What to ye O ye gods can the mortal one giveJ
-
The joys can dwell onlyK
In Jupiter's palaceL
Brimmed bright with your nectarA
Oh reach me the chaliceM
-
Hebe the chaliceM
Fill full to the brimN
Steep his eyes steep his eyes in the bath of the dewO
Let him dream while the Styx is concealed from his viewO
That the life of the gods is for himN
-
It murmurs it sparklesP
The fount of delightQ
The bosom grows tranquilR
The eye becomes brightQ
