Winters On The Farm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDC EFFEAGHA CCCCIJJA KKKKAKKA CKKCACCA

Glad winters on the olden farmA
How raptures from those early timesB
Commingle into fairy chimesB
Which gently banish cries of harmA
My fainting soul finds rest the whilesC
Within the arms of memoryD
And tender scenes of boyish gleeD
Transform my sorrows into smilesC
-
How brightly beamed the pleasures thenE
When frigid fingers came to throwF
A wintry winding sheet of snowF
Around the silent homes of menE
But happiness found no alarmA
For safe with cheer secure with loveG
She gladly grew and sweetly throveH
Through winters on the olden farmA
-
With merry bells and busy sleighsC
That sung and flew o'er icy valesC
And climbed the hills as fleet as galesC
Like singing phantoms died the daysC
Or then with coat and muffler warmI
Sweet children glided on the lakeJ
Or chased the rabbit through the brakeJ
In winters on the olden farmA
-
How glad the joys at eventideK
When 'round the hearth stone's pleasant heatK
The simple song in music sweetK
From loving voices floated wideK
The mellowed apples gave a charmA
While pop corn white and cider brightK
With worlds of laughter lent delightK
To winters on the olden farmA
-
Thrice happy nights and happy daysC
Sweet isles of pleasure in the pastK
May long your hallowed moments castK
A sacred sunshine o'er my waysC
And where life leads me gladly armA
My soul with angel songs of blissC
With true embrace and holy kissC
O winters on the olden farmA
