The Growth Of Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CC DE FF GG HH II JJ

A tender song in shadows grewA
And humble hearts were homes it knewA
-
But through its wondrous music stoleB
The longings of the human soulB
-
The hopes of hosts unsatisfiedC
Within its numbers wandered wideC
-
And strangely wet with toilsome tearsD
It held the yearnings of the yearsE
-
Till millions with their woes oppressedF
Proclaimed the song of peace and restF
-
Till nations in their troubled waysG
Found comfort in the joyous laysG
-
And all the halting race of wrongH
Exalts the loving might of songH
-
Ah song that soothes our many criesI
With fondness of thy lullabiesI
-
We love we bless we scepter theeJ
Proud empress of the hearts that beJ
