Sweet Fairies From The Isles Of Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCCC CCCCDEEF GHHGAIIA JCCJKDDK

Sweet fairies from the isles of songA
Bewitching choirs from music landB
The pleasures of your wondrous bandB
Once wooed me from the ways of wrongA
Once won my heart with fond caressC
To sacred vales of summer gleesC
Till carols fraught with lullabiesC
Filled all my soul with blessednessC
-
My yearnings miss those gentle spritesC
Whose laughing lips and angel eyesC
And voices ever winsome wiseC
Bedewed my dreams with new delightsC
For in the sad hours of my painD
I hold them as I hold the deadE
And trust that in the vales they treadE
My hands shall clasp their hands againF
-
From those glad meadows where they playG
'Neath lovely sun and gentle starH
My longing soul has wandered farH
On rocky path and thorny wayG
I croon again the notes of songA
In strains they taught me years agoI
And weep because my sorrows knowI
They have been absent for so longA
-
Return O laughing sprites of restJ
From gentle isles and peaceful seasC
And pour the balsamed wine of easeC
Upon the anguish of my breastJ
Till gladness in her raptures rollK
Sweet strains of music and I gainD
Eternal joy for all the painD
That darkens o'er my weary soulK
