Spinsterhood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGHGIJIJ KLALMNNN OIPIQPQP

Alone alone in the twilight grayA
In the shadows so dark and dimB
I watch through all of the weary hoursC
And I wait with my heart for himB
For him who'll come when he comes at allD
As my king and warrior boldE
Whose form so tall is my fortress wallD
And whose heart is a chunk of goldE
-
Again again do I dream the dreamsF
All the dreams that my young heart knewG
And through my soul do the yearnings thrillH
As of old they were wont to doG
I know in truth when his face I seeI
I shall fall at his shining feetJ
Where'er it be and whoever is heI
In the light of his glances sweetJ
-
I wait in vain for the sounds that riseK
From the tread of his horse's hoofL
And still the mists hide his form awayA
And forever he stays aloofL
His shining face and his eyes so brightM
In the shades of the distance hideN
And out of the night with the stars bedightN
He hath never approached my sideN
-
O years O wonderful tide of yearsO
From the shadows of time set freeI
My king my lover my life and bringP
To my heart what is most of meI
Somewhere in pain do his yearnings gropeQ
For the joys that my love would bringP
O up the slope of his life long hopeQ
Guide the feet of my royal kingP
