O, Gentle Shade Of Quiet Woods Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

O gentle shade of quiet woodsA
Where nature dwells in leafy hallsB
I love the sacred voice that fallsB
In music o'er thy solitudesB
Within thine arms the weary heartC
Is hidden from the toils of menD
And pleasure makes ambition startC
Into a nobler life againD
-
Among the fragrant shadows throngE
With all the riches of their truthF
Glad echoes from the days of youthF
And mingle into laughing songE
While angel fingers touch the keysB
That slumber in the silent breastG
Till mem'ry wakes her lullabiesB
And childhood fancies rock to restG
-
Again the hours of early joyH
Upon the aged years intrudeI
And dance amid the summer woodJ
The golden dreamings of the boyH
Again the songs of wonder thrillK
The days of life with gladness wildL
And lofty visions fondly fillK
The longing fancies of the childL
-
Enchanted choirs of baby yearsB
Sweet dirges from the cradle's keysB
The glories of your harmoniesB
Impel my secret soul to tearsB
The roses of my fancies fadeM
Into the dust of wicked strifeN
And all the promise boyhood madeM
Has proved the desert of my lifeN
-
O fragrant woods of happy timesB
Fair children of the glowing daysB
How sweet the music of your laysB
Is mingled into fairy chimesB
Ye lisp again the songs of yoreO
The stories of my infant yearsB
And throw a sweeter cadence o'erP
My hoary sorrows and my tearsB
