Love thou gayest fancy weaverA
Heart betrayer soul deceiverA
Come with all thy clinging kissesB
Bringing all thy beaming blissesB
It may serve the cynic's partsB
If he curse and if he scout theeC
But O where were gentle heartsB
If they had to live without theeC
-
Weave the spells of thy beguilingD
'Round and 'round me with thy smilingD
Till the ashen cheek is beamingD
And the faded eye is gleamingD
Millions may endure the fightE
In the battle vain to end theeC
But when taste they thy delightE
They will serve thee and defend theeC
-
Bring thy little winsome gracesB
And the sweets of glad embracesB
Till the pleasures all are dancingD
Into mazy whirls entrancingD
It may please the icy breastF
To despise thee and distress theeC
But the burning hearts find restF
When they bless thee and caress theeC
-
Send thy gladness laughing roverA
All my sorrows o'er and overA
Till the strains of happy pleasureA
Mingle in melodious measureA
It may give a transient gleeC
To condemn thy ways and severA
But the sweets of melodyC
Thou wilt murmur on foreverA
-
Bind my heart in silken chainingD
Till from thee is none remainingD
Clothe my soul in glad completenessB
Of thy happiness and sweetnessB
When the times are true the soulG
May not hunger for thy gladnessB
But when surging sorrows rollG
Thou alone shall banish sadnessB
