Good-night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAA CDCDCC EFEFEE GHGHGG IJIJII

Good night my little love good nightA
May angels keepB
With fondest watch thy slumbers till the lightA
Shall break thy sleepB
And morning with its wonders brightA
Shall banish all thy cares with mightA
-
Within this quickened life of mineC
I bear awayD
The loving looks and tender words of thineC
Which from this dayD
Within my soul shall ever shineC
And make me better more divineC
-
With love and trust and truth my heartE
Beats all for theeF
And though our lives may wander far apartE
Till death's decreeF
Shall pierce my hopes with deadly dartE
Thou still my star of guidance artE
-
Good night dear one As gladdest songsG
The sweetest dreamsH
Fill all my happy soul in joyous throngsG
And tender themesH
Bring bliss for which my nature longsG
And slay the curse of ancient wrongsG
-
Good night my little love In careI
Of Heaven restJ
And may thy life no deeper sorrow shareI
Than love's behestJ
Beneath the smiles of raptures rareI
Good night God keep thee everywhereI
