Away, Away, From The Sultry Ways Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GAHA IJKJ LMNM OPFP QRSR TUVU

Away away from the sultry waysA
Where the pleasures fall and fadeB
To the bannered corn and the meadowed bloomC
And the forest's cooling shadeB
-
Afar afar from the rooms of careD
With the toils of life distressedE
To the grassy hills and the fragrant slopesF
And the quiet vales of restE
-
Away from the weary dusty townG
Where the sorrows dim the daysA
To the sleeping lake and the silent streamH
And the wildwood's tangled waysA
-
To margins wide of the woodland poolsI
Where the wild birds troll their songsJ
Where the lilies laugh and the willows waveK
And the pleasures dance in throngsJ
-
The dark eyed nymphs and the fairy elvesL
In their robes of laughing smilesM
In the forests romp 'neath the leafy treesN
Through the narrow long drawn aislesM
-
The bannered corn and the golden wheatO
In the ties of bliss are boundP
The sweetest joys and highest hopesF
On the shady farms are foundP
-
The raptures reign in the holy scenesQ
And the old grow young once moreR
To roam the meadows and live againS
In the happy years of yoreR
-
Then haste O haste to the country downsT
Where the valleys are sweet with joysU
And the soul grows young and the heart is lightV
And the bosom is like a boy'sU
