Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCDEFEF GHGHIJIJ KLKLMNMN OPOPQRQR CSCTUVUV WXWXYHYH ZA2ZA2

The brazen bells of laughing landsA
In swelling echoes wildly ringB
And over seas and hoary strandsA
This Christmas carol singB
-
-
Awaken O heart of the raceC
To bountiful riches from Eden aboveD
Till roses of beauty and lilies of graceC
Shall sweeten the languishing bosom with loveD
Till virulent sorrow and venomous hateE
Their poisonous curses of misery ceaseF
And rapturous fortune felicitous fateE
Have rule in the musical meadows of peaceF
-
The voices of morning to menG
In passionate whispers of bounteous gleeH
Are pulsing the gladness of Christmas againG
O'er plains of the prairie and sounds of the seaH
Rejoice and be happy O languishing soulI
In limitless treasures of marvelous cheerJ
Till ravishing murmurs of lullabies rollI
Through all of the sorrows that sadden the yearJ
-
Though summer has gone from the earthK
And silken embraces of velvety snowL
Are folding the blossoms of beauty and worthK
In wretched surroundings of wearisome woeL
Let innocent joys in their sweetness aboundM
And silvery cadence in melody startN
Till rapturous fortunes with pleasure surroundM
The aims of the soul and the hopes of the heartN
-
Let youth with its yearning engageO
All vigorous passion that lives in the breastP
While tearful remembrance of tottering ageO
Finds halcyon harbors of comforting restP
Let silver of years with the ardor of youthQ
Be going again through the temple of joyR
While palms of amusement and laurels of truthQ
Encircle the hearts of the maiden and boyR
-
Let happiness reign with the raceC
There's never a reason for sorrowful tearsS
Kriss Kringle has come with his fatherly faceC
To comfort complaining humanity's fearsT
Let music go 'round and the beautiful smileU
Bring gladsome delight to the bosom of blissV
Till gentle enjoyments unbroken beguileU
The souls of the sad with their coveted kissV
-
Though crystalline frost on the treesW
Though ice on the river and snow on the plainX
Are freezing the breath of the shivering breezeW
The heart has Nepenthe for all of its painX
For Christmas is king and his bountiful handY
Is giving its treasures to mountain and leaH
And gentleness rules on the billowy strandY
And reigns in the far away isles of the seaH
-
This is the carol that swellsZ
Over the meadows and brakesA2
From brazen throats of the pealing bellsZ
When Christmas morning wakesA2
