Warning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBB BCDC EFDF GHI BBJB CHIH BKLK MBNB IBBB

A man there was a gentle soulA
Of mild enquiring mindB
Who came into this neighbourhoodB
Its wonders for to findB
-
They told him who had put the lidB
On Lydney who the aleC
Misspelt in Aylburton And heD
Delighted in the taleC
-
And still like little OliverE
He softly asked for moreF
And with the utmost courtesyD
Was answered as beforeF
-
Until one sleepy summer's eveG
He came all unawareH
Unto a place called RuardeanI
And asked Who killed the bear '-
-
The man arose and punched him flatB
Another punched his headB
And when the rest had done with himJ
Our gentle friend was deadB
-
The moral of this simple taleC
Is plain Dear friend bewareH
If you should visit RuardeanI
Don't mention any bearH
-
If you should climb to Yorkley SladB
Pause not to question whyK
They put a pig upon the wallL
To see the band go byK
-
And if your feet so far should strayM
As Dymock lest some hurtB
Befall you make no mention ofN
The man without a shirtB
-
Nine lives have cats and you but oneI
Risk not that gift of GodB
It's better to be ignorantB
Than dead beneath the sodB
