In The Street Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCBDBDEFEFGG

Lord ShaftesburyA
YOU have done well we say it You are deadB
And of the man that with the right hand takesC
Less than the left hand gives let it be saidB
He has done something for our wretched sakesC
For those to whom you gave their daily breadB
Rancid with God loathed 'charity ' their drinkD
Putrid with man loathed 'sin ' we bow our headB
Grateful as the great hearse goes by and thinkD
Yes you have fed the flesh and starved the soulE
Of thousands of us you have taught too wellF
The Rich are little gods beyond controlE
Save of your big God of the heaven and hellF
We thank you This was pretty once and rightG
Now it wears rather thin My lord good nightG
