Clinging hand in hand | B |
Two little girls come out | C |
To see the wonderful land | B |

Here round the flaring stalls | D |
They stand wide eyed in the throng | E |
While the great the eloquent huckster | F |
Perorates loud and long | E |

They watch those thrice blessed mortals | G |
The dirty guzzling boys | H |
Who partake of dates periwinkles | H |
Ices and other joys | H |
- | |
And their little mouths go wide open | I |
At some of the brilliant sights | H |
That little darlings may see in the road | J |
Of Edgware on Saturday nights | H |
- | |
The eldest's name is Susannah | K |
She was four years old last May | L |
And Mary Jane the youngest | M |
Is just three years old to day | L |
- | |
And I know all about their cat and | N |
Their father and mother too | O |
And Pigshead their only brother | F |
Who got his head jammed in the flue | O |
- | |
And they know several particulars | H |
Of a similar sort of me | P |
For we went up and down together | F |
For over an hour we three | P |
- | |
And Susannah walked beside me | P |
As became the wiser and older | F |
Fast to one finger but Mary Jane | Q |
Sat solemnly up on my shoulder | F |
- | |
And we bought some sweets and a monkey | P |
That climbed up a stick quite nice | H |
And then last we adjourned for refreshments | H |
And the ladies had each an ice | H |
- | |
And Susannah's ice was a pink one | I |
And she sucked it up so quick | R |
But Mary Jane silently proffered | S |
Her ice to me for a lick | R |
- | |
And then we went home to mother | F |
And we found her upon the floor | T |
And father was trying to balance | H |
His shoulders against the door | T |
- | |
And Susannah said O and Please sir | F |
We'll go in ourselves sir And | N |
We kissed one another and parted | U |
And they stole in hand in hand | B |
- | |
And it's O for my two little darlings | H |
I never shall see again | V |
Though I stand for the whole night watching | W |
And crying here in the rain | Q |
