The Dead Kings Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB ADED AFGF AHIH J KK BLM NOP Q ON

All the dead kings came to meA
At Rosnaree where I was dreamingB
A few stars glimmered through the mornC
And down the thorn the dews were streamingB
-
And every dead king had a storyA
Of ancient glory sweetly toldD
It was too early for the larkE
But the starry dark had tints of goldD
-
I listened to the sorrows threeA
Of that Eire passed into songF
A cock crowed near a hazel croftG
And up aloft dim larks winged strongF
-
-
And I too told the kings a storyA
Of later glory her fourth sorrowH
There was a sound like moving shieldsI
In high green fields and the lowland furrowH
-
And one said ' We who yet are kingsJ
Have heard these things lamenting inly '-
Sweet music flowed from many a billK
And on the hill the morn stood queenlyK
-
And one said ' Over is the singingB
And bell bough ringing whence we comeL
With heavy hearts we'll tread the shadowsM
In honey meadows birds are dumb '-
-
And one said ' Since the poets perishedN
And all they cherished in the wayO
Their thoughts unsung like petal showersP
Inflame the hours of blue and gray '-
-
And one said ' A loud tramp of menQ
We'll hear again at Rosnaree '-
A bomb burst near me where I layO
I woke 'twas day in PicardyN
