Ireland Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIJII called you by sweet names by wood and linn | A |
You answered not because my voice was new | B |
And you were listening for the hounds of Finn | A |
And the long hosts of Lugh | C |
- | |
And so I came unto a windy height | D |
And cried my sorrow but you heard no wind | E |
For you were listening to small ships in flight | D |
And the wail on hills behind | E |
- | |
- | |
And then I left you wandering the war | F |
Armed with will from distant goal to goal | G |
To find you at the last free as of yore | F |
Or die to save your soul | G |
- | |
And then you called to us from far and near | H |
To bring your crown from out the deeps of time | I |
It is my grief your voice I couldn't hear | J |
In such a distant clime | I |
