And there the busy squirrel hews | C |
His deep and secret granary | D |

The lonely quail complains beside | E |
The glistening waters on the mere | D |
Where widowed Beauties yet abide | E |

And I too make my own complaint | F |
Upon a reed I plucked in June | G |
And love to hear it echoed faint | F |
Upon another heart in tune | G |
