Tennemi Amor anni ventuno ardendoA
-
HE CONFESSES AND REGRETS HIS SINS AND PRAYS GOD TO SAVE HIM FROM ETERNAL DEATHB
-
-
Love held me one and twenty years enchain'dA
His flame was joy for hope was in my griefC
For ten more years I wept without reliefC
When Laura with my heart to heaven attain'dA
Now weary grown my life I had arraign'dA
That in its error check'd to my beliefC
Blest virtue's seeds now in my yellow leafC
I grieve the misspent years existence stain'dA
Alas it might have sought a brighter goalD
In flying troublous thoughts and winning peaceE
O Father I repentant seek thy throneF
Thou in this temple hast enshrined my soulD
Oh bless me yet and grant its safe releaseE
Unjustified my sin I humbly ownF
