Sonnet Xcvi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDDCCDECFGFGHH I

Quelle pietose rime in ch' io m' accorsiA
-
TO ANTONIO OF FERRARA WHO IN A POEM HAD LAMENTED PETRARCH'S SUPPOSED DEATHB
-
-
Those pious lines wherein are finely metC
Proofs of high genius and a spirit kindD
Had so much influence on my grateful mindD
That instantly in hand my pen I setC
To tell you that death's final blow which yetC
Shall me and every mortal surely findD
I have not felt though I too nearly join'dE
The confines of his realm without regretC
But I turn'd back again because I readF
Writ o'er the threshold that the time to meG
Of life predestinate not all was fledF
Though its last day and hour I could not seeG
Then once more let your sad heart comfort knowH
And love the living worth which dead it honour'd soH
