Io non fu' d' amar voi lassato unquancoA

UNLESS LAURA RELENT HE IS RESOLVED TO ABANDON HERB

Yet was I never of your love aggrievedC
Nor never shall while that my life doth lastD
But of hating myself that date is pastD
And tears continual sore have me weariedE
I will not yet in my grave be buriedE
Nor on my tomb your name have fix d fastD
As cruel cause that did the spirit soon hasteF
From the unhappy bones by great sighs stirr'dG
Then if a heart of amorous faith and willH
Content your mind withouten doing griefI
Please it you so to this to do reliefI
If otherwise you seek for to fulfilH
Your wrath you err and shall not as you weenJ
And you yourself the cause thereof have beenJ

Weary I never was nor can be e'erB
Lady while life shall last of loving youL
But brought alas myself in hate to viewL
Perpetual tears have bred a blank despairM
I wish a tomb whose marble fine and fairM
When this tired spirit and frail flesh are twoL
May show your name to which my death is dueL
If e'en our names at last one stone may shareM
Wherefore if full of faith and love a heartN
Can of worst torture short suffice your hateO
Mercy at length may visit e'en my smartN
If otherwise your wrath itself would sateO
It is deceived and none will credit showP
To Love and to myself my thanks for this I oweP
