Upon the left shore of the Tyrrhene seaC
Where broken by the winds the waves complainD
Sudden I saw that honour'd green againE
Written for whom so many a page must beC
Love ever in my soul his flame who fedF
Drew me with memories of those tresses fairG
Whence in a rivulet which silent thereG
Through long grass stole I fell as one struck deadF
Lone as I was 'mid hills of oak and firH
I felt ashamed to heart of gentle mouldI
Blushes suffice nor needs it other spurH
'Tis well at least breaking bad customs oldI
To change from eyes to feet from these so wetJ
By those if milder April should be metJ
