Rhyme Scheme: A B CDDCCDDCEFFEGG H

Mille piagge in un giorno e mille riviA
-
TO BE NEAR HER RECOMPENSES HIM FOR ALL THE PERILS OF THE WAYB
-
-
Love who his votary wings in heart and feetC
To the third heaven that lightly he may soarD
In one short day has many a stream and shoreD
Given to me in famed Ardennes to meetC
Unarm'd and single to have pass'd is sweetC
Where war in earnest strikes nor tells beforeD
A helmless sail less ship 'mid ocean's roarD
My breast with dark and fearful thoughts repleteC
But reach'd my dangerous journey's far extremeE
Remembering whence I came and with whose wingsF
From too great courage conscious terror springsF
But this fair country and belov d streamE
With smiling welcome reassures my heartG
Where dwells its sole light ready to departG
