HIS INVINCIBLE CONSTANCYB
-
-
Place me where herb and flower the sun has driedC
Or where numb winter's grasp holds sterner swayD
Place me where Phoebus sheds a temperate rayD
Where first he glows where rests at eventideC
Place me in lowly state in power and prideC
Where lour the skies or where bland zephyrs playD
Place me where blind night rules or lengthened dayD
In age mature or in youth's boiling tideC
Place me in heaven or in the abyss profoundC
On lofty height or in low vale obscureE
A spirit freed or to the body boundC
Bank'd with the great or all unknown to fameF
I still the same will be the same endureE
And my trilustral sighs still breathe the sameF

Place me where Phoebus burns each herb each flowerE
Or where cold snows and frost o'ercome his raysG
Place me where rolls his car with temp'rate blazeG
In climes that feel not or that feel his powerE
Place me where fortune may look bright or lourE
Mid murky airs or where soft zephyr playsG
Place me in night in long or short lived daysG
Where age makes sad or youth gilds ev'ry hourE
Place me on mountains high in vallies drearE
In heaven on earth in depths unknown to dayD
Whether life fosters still or flies this clayD
Place me where fame is distant where she's nearE
Still will I love nor shall those sighs yet ceaseH
Which thrice five years have robb'd this breast of peaceH

ANONI

-
Place me where angry Titan burns the MoorE
And thirsty Afric fiery monsters bringsJ
Or where the new born phoenix spreads her wingsJ
And troops of wond'ring birds her flight adoreE
Place me by Gange or Ind's empamper'd shoreE
Where smiling heavens on earth cause double springsJ
Place me where Neptune's quire of Syrens singsJ
Or where made hoarse through cold he leaves to roarE
Me place where Fortune doth her darlings crownI
A wonder or a spark in Envy's eyeK
Or late outrageous fates upon me frownI
And pity wailing see disaster'd meB
Affection's print my mind so deep doth proveL
I may forget myself but not my loveM
