Il cantar novo e 'l pianger degli augelliA
-
MORNINGB
-
-
The birds' sweet wail their renovated songC
At break of morn make all the vales resoundD
With lapse of crystal waters pouring roundD
In clear swift runnels the fresh shores amongE
She whose pure passion knows nor guile nor wrongC
With front of snow with golden tresses crown'dD
Combing her aged husband's hoar locks foundD
Wakes me when sportful wakes the warbling throngC
Thus roused from sleep I greet the dawning dayF
And its succeeding sun with one more brightG
Still dazzling as in early youth my sightG
Both suns I've seen at once uplift their rayF
This drives the radiance of the stars awayF
But that which gilds my life eclipses e'en his lightG

NOTTH
-
-
Soon as gay morn ascends her purple carI
The plaintive warblings of the new waked groveJ
The murmuring streams through flowery meads that roveJ
Fill with sweet melody the valleys fairK
Aurora famed for constancy in loveL
Whose face with snow whose locks with gold compareK
Smoothing her aged husband's silvery hairK
Bids me the joys of rural music proveM
Then waking I salute the sun of dayF
But chief that beauteous sun whose cheering rayF
Once gilt nay gilds e'en now life's scene so brightG
Dear suns which oft I've seen together riseN
This dims each meaner lustre of the skiesN
And that sweet sun I love dims every lightG
