Almo Sol quella fronde ch' io sola amoA
-
TO THE SUN WHOSE SETTING HID LAURA'S DWELLING FROM HIS VIEWB
-
-
O blessed Sun that sole sweet leaf I loveC
First loved by thee in its fair seat aloneD
Bloometh without a peer since from aboveC
To Adam first our shining ill was shownD
Pause we to look on her Although to stayE
Thy course I pray thee yet thy beams retireF
Their shades the mountains fling and parting dayE
Parts me from all I most on earth desireG
The shadows from yon gentle heights that fallH
Where sparkles my sweet fire where brightly grewB
That stately laurel from a sucker smallH
Increasing as I speak hide from my viewB
The beauteous landscape and the bless d sceneI
Where dwells my true heart with its only queenI
