Let The Light Enter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEFE GHIH JHKH LHMH NHBH

The dying words of GoetheA
-
-
Light more light the shadows deepenB
And my life is ebbing lowC
Throw the windows widely openB
Light more light before I goC
-
Softly let the balmy sunshineD
Play around my dying bedE
E'er the dimly lighted valleyF
I with lonely feet must treadE
-
Light more light for Death is weavingG
Shadows 'round my waning sightH
And I fain would gaze upon himI
Through a stream of earthly lightH
-
Not for greater gifts of geniusJ
Not for thoughts more grandly brightH
All the dying poet whispersK
Is a prayer for light more lightH
-
Heeds he not the gathered laurelsL
Fading slowly from his sightH
All the poet's aspirationsM
Centre in that prayer for lightH
-
Gracious Saviour when life's day dreamsN
Melt and vanish from the sightH
May our dim and longing visionB
Then be blessed with light more lightH
