Jamie's Puzzle Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE FGHG IBJB KDHD LMIM NOPI QEIE HRLR KSIS

There was grief within our householdA
Because of a vacant chairB
Our mother so loved and preciousC
No longer was sitting thereB
-
Our hearts grew heavy with sorrowD
Our eyes with tears were blindE
And little Jamie was wonderingF
Why we were left behindE
-
We had told our little darlingF
Of the land of love and lightG
Of the saints all crowned with gloryH
And enrobed in spotless whiteG
-
We said that our precious motherI
Had gone to that land so fairB
To dwell with beautiful angelsJ
And to be forever thereB
-
But the child was sorely puzzledK
Why dear grandmamma should goD
To dwell in a stranger cityH
When her children loved her soD
-
But again the mystic angelL
Came with swift and silent treadM
And our sister Jamie's motherI
Was enrolled among the deadM
-
To us the mystery deepenedN
To Jamie it seemed more clearO
Grandma he said must be lonesomeP
And mamma has gone to herI
-
But the question lies unansweredQ
In our little Jamie's mindE
Why she should go to our motherI
And leave her children behindE
-
To dwell in that lovely cityH
From all that was dear to partR
From children who loved to nestleL
So closely around her heartR
-
Dear child like you we are puzzledK
With problems that still remainS
But think in the great hereafterI
Their meaning will all be plainS
