A Wreath Of Sonnets (2/14) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA AAC CAA

A record of my pain and of your praiseA
Will this be to Slovenes as yet unbornB
When moss shall grow upon my tomb forlornB
And over all that grieves me and dismaysA
-
And haughty maids with beauty to amazeA
Like yours on hearing these my strains will scornB
To lock their hearts in armour they'll adornB
Their love with faithful thoughts and faithful waysA
-
For all Slovenes will then dawn brighter daysA
And kindlier stars upon their land will gazeA
More brilliant songs will come with better timesC
-
Yet my songs too with sweetly flowing rhymesC
May still survive the future's changing phaseA
Since from my heart's deep roots have sprung these laysA
