There Is An Hour, A Pensive Hour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEFG HHAAIJKK LLMMNNKK

THERE is an hour a pensive hourA
And oh how dear its soothing pow'rB
It is when twilight spreads her veilC
And steals along the silent daleC
'Tis when the fading blossoms closeD
When all is silence and reposeE
Then memory wakes and loves to mournF
For days that never shall returnG
-
There is a strain a plaintive strainH
The source of joy and yet of painH
It is the song whose dying measureA
Some friend belov'd has heard with pleasureA
Some friend who ne'er again may hearI
The melting lay to memory dearJ
Ah then her magic spells restoreK
Visions of blissful days no moreK
-
There is a tear of sweet reliefL
A tear of rapture and of griefL
The feeling heart alone can knowM
What soft emotions bid it flowM
It is when memory charms the mindN
With tender images refin'dN
'Tis when her balmy spells restoreK
Departed friends and joys no moreK
