The Sun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCB DDDEFFE GGGHIIH AAAJKKL

The sun comes forth each mountain heightA
Glows with a tinge of rosy lightA
And flowers that slumbered through the nightA
Their dewy leaves unfoldB
A flood of splendor bursts on highC
And ocean's breast reflects a skyC
Of crimson and of goldB
-
Oh thou art glorious orb of dayD
Exulting nations hail thy rayD
Creation swells a choral layD
To welcome thy returnE
From thee all nature draws her huesF
Thy beams the insect's wings suffuseF
And in the diamond burnE
-
Yet must thou fade when earth and heavenG
By fire and tempest shall be rivenG
Thou from thy sphere of radiance drivenG
Oh Sun must fall at lastH
Another heaven another earthI
Far other glory shall have birthI
When all we see is pastH
-
But He who gave the word of mightA
'Let there be light' and there was lightA
Who bade thee chase the gloom of nightA
And beam the world to blessJ
For ever bright for ever pureK
Alone unchanging shall endureK
The Sun of RighteousnessL
