The Lilies Of The Field Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDADEEFGGF

Flowers when the Saviour's calm benignant eyeA
Fell on your gentle beauty when from youB
That heavenly lesson for all hearts He drewB
Eternal universal as the skyA
Then in the bosom of your purityC
A voice He set as in a temple shrineD
That life's quick travellers ne'er might pass you byA
Unwarn'd of that sweet oracle divineD
And though too oft its low celestial soundE
By the harsh notes of work day care is drown'dE
And the loud steps of vain unlistening hasteF
Yet the great Ocean hath no tone of powerG
Mightier to reach the soul in thought's hush'd hourG
Than yours meek lilies chosen thus and gracedF
