The Hour Of Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDCC EEFGHHCC IIJJBBCC

Child amidst the flowers at playA
While the red light fades awayA
Mother with thine earnest eyeB
Ever following silentlyC
Father by the breeze of eveD
Call'd thy harvest work to leaveD
Pray ere yet the dark hours beC
Lift the heart and bend the kneeC
-
Traveller in the stranger's landE
Far from thine own household bandE
Mourner haunted by the toneF
Of a voice from this world goneG
Captive in whose narrow cellH
Sunshine hath not leave to dwellH
Sailor on the dark'ning seaC
Lift the heart and bend the kneeC
-
Warrior that from battle wonI
Breathest now at set of sunI
Woman o'er the lowly slainJ
Weeping on his burial plainJ
Ye that triumph ye that sighB
Kindred by one holy tieB
Heaven's first star alike ye seeC
Lift the heart and bend the kneeC
