Song 1 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDDDEE FF GGHHIIIIJJDD

OH bear me to the groves of palmA
Where perfum'd airs diffuse their balmA
And when the noon tide beams invadeB
Then lay me in the embow'ring shadeB
Where Bananas o'er my headC
Mingling with the Tam'rind spreadC
Where the long liannes combiningD
Wild festoons of flow'rs entwiningD
Fragrant cassia softly blowingD
Lime and orange ever glowingD
All their spicy breath exhaleE
To scent the pleasure fanning galeE
-
There her sweet ambrosial storesF
Nature in profusion poursF
-
The cocoa's nectar let me sipG
The citron's juice refresh my lipG
While around me hovering playH
Birds in radiant plumage gayH
And amidst the foliage raiseI
Melodies in varied laysI
There in aromatic bow'rsI
Be mine to pass the summer hoursI
Or by some clear cascade reclin'dJ
Whose dashing sound may lull the mindJ
Wake the lyre and tune the songD
Scenes of paradise amongD
