Kindred Hearts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGH IJIJHKHK LMLNOPOP QRQRSTST

OH ask not hope thou not too muchA
Of sympathy belowB
Few are the hearts whence one same touchA
Bids the sweet fountains flowB
Few and by still conflicting powersC
Forbidden here to meetD
Such ties would make this life of oursC
Too fair for aught so fleetD
It may be that thy brother's eyeE
Sees not as thine which turnsF
In such deep reverence to the skyE
Where the rich sunset burnsF
It may be that the breath of springG
Born amidst violets loneH
A rapture o'er thy soul can bringG
A dream to his unknownH
-
The tune that speaks of other timesI
A sorrowful delightJ
The melody of distant chimesI
The sound of waves by nightJ
The wind that with so many a toneH
Some chord within can thrillK
These may have language all thine ownH
To him a mystery stillK
-
Yet scorn thou not for this the trueL
And steadfast love of yearsM
The kindly that from childhood grewL
The faithful to thy tearsN
If there be one that o'er the deadO
Hath in thy grief borne partP
And watch'd through sickness by thy bedO
Call his a kindred heartP
-
But for those bonds all perfect madeQ
Wherein bright spirits blendR
Like sister flowers of one sweet shadeQ
With the same breeze that bendR
For that full bliss of thought alliedS
Never to mortals givenT
Oh lay thy lovely dreams asideS
Or lift them unto HeavenT
