OH blest art thou whose steps may roveA
Through the green paths of vale and groveA
Or leaving all their charms belowB
Climb the wild mountain's airy browC
-
And gaze afar o'er cultured plainsD
And cities with their stately fanesD
And forests that beneath thee lieE
And ocean mingling with the skyE
-
For man can show thee nought so fairF
As Nature's varied marvels thereF
And if thy pure and artless breastG
Can feel their grandeur thou art blestG
-
For thee the stream in beauty flowsD
For thee the gale of summer blowsD
And in deep glen and wood walk freeH
Voices of joy still breathe for theeH
-
But happier far if then thy soulI
Can soar to Him who made the wholeI
If to thine eye the simplest flowerJ
Portray His bounty and His powerJ
-
If in whate'er is bright or grandK
Thy mind can trace His viewless handK
If Nature's music bid thee raiseD
Thy song of gratitude and praiseD
-
If heaven and earth with beauty fraughtL
Lead to His throne thy raptured thoughtL
If there thou lov'st His love to readM
Then wanderer thou art blest indeedN
