Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGHIIJJEE KKLLMMNNKK

Now autumn strews on every plainA
His mellow fruits and fertile grainA
And laughing plenty crown'd with sheavesB
With purple grapes and spreading leavesB
In rich profusion pours aroundC
Her flowing treasures on the groundC
Oh mark the great the liberal handD
That scatters blessings o'er the landD
And to the God of nature raiseE
The grateful song the hymn of praiseE
-
The infant corn in vernal hoursF
He nurtured with his gentle showersF
And bade the summer clouds diffuseG
Their balmy store of genial dewsH
He mark'd the tender stem ariseI
Till ripen'd by the glowing skiesI
And now matured his work beholdJ
The cheering harvest waves in goldJ
To nature's God with joy we raiseE
The grateful song the hymn of praiseE
-
The valleys echo to the strainsK
Of blooming maids and village swainsK
To him they tune the lay sincereL
Whose bounty crowns the smiling yearL
The sounds from every woodland borneM
The sighing winds that bend the cornM
The yellow fields around proclaimN
His mighty everlasting nameN
To nature's God united raiseK
The grateful song the hymn of praiseK

Connie Scanlan: Some confusion about male or female attribution to harvest's bounty. Other than that, a beautiful, generous, colorful tribute to Harvest. Just what I was looking for! Warmed my mid-west heart.
