A Farewell To Abbotsford Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBCB DEDEFBFB GHGHIBIB

HOME of the gifted fare thee wellA
And a blessing on thee restB
While the heather waves its purple bellA
O'er moor and mountain crestB
While stream to stream around thee callsC
And braes with broom are drestB
Glad be the harping in thy hallsC
A blessing on thee restB
-
While the high voice from thee sent forthD
Bids rock and cairn replyE
Wakening the spirits of the NorthD
Like a chieftan's gathering cryE
While its deep master tones hold swayF
As a king's o'er every breastB
Home of the Legend and the LayF
A blessing on thee restB
-
Joy to thy hearth and board and bowerG
Long honours to thy lineH
And hearts of proof and hands of powerG
And bright names worthy thineH
By the merry step of childhood stillI
May thy free sward be prestB
While one proud pulse in the land can thrillI
A blessing on thee restB
