That I May Die Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFGH AIEFJKF

That I may die to my flesh and not liveA
That I may long in the spirit and absent in the fleshB
That my mind be renewedC
That my vile body be changedD
Here with me I bringE
Here with me I clingE
Here with me a pure olive oilF
Beaten unto the lightG
That my lamp may burn continually before theeH
-
That I may die and not liveA
Dead to my flesh alive in my spiritI
For unto for the spirit I've come to clingE
Extemporaneously I write ambidextrouslyF
They say I'm idiosyncraticJ
I say it's not fortuitous it's a privilegeK
To die is gain I willF

Mercy Jones: I love the poem, for I am crucified with Christ, and the life I live in the flesh,I live by faith in the son of God, who loves me and gave himself for me. May the fullness of Christ be made manifest in me.
Saviours come on Mount Zion. Amen. I live in Australia. Love Mercy
