Rhyme Scheme: ABACACBC ABACACBC ABACA DBC ACAC

Towards the Noel that morte saisonA
i Christ make the shepherds' homage dear iB
Then when the grey wolves everychoneA
Drink of the winds their chill small beerC
And lap o' the snows food's gueredonA
Then makyth my heart his yule tide cheerC
i Skoal with the dregs if the clear be gone iB
Wineing the ghosts of yester yearC
-
Ask ye what ghost I dream uponA
i What of the magians' scented gear iB
The ghosts of dead loves everyoneA
That make the stark winds reek with fearC
Lest love return with the foison sunA
And slay the memories that me cheerC
i Such as I drink to mine fashion iB
Wineing the ghosts of yester yearC
-
Where are the joys my heart had wonA
i Saturn and Mars to Zeus drawn near iB
Where are athe lips mine lay uponA
Aye where are the glances feat and clearC
That bade my heart his valor donA
-
I skoal to the eyes as grey blown meerD
i Who knows whose was that paragon iB
Wineing the ghosts of yester yearC
-
Prince ask me not what I have doneA
Nor what God hath that can me cheerC
But ye ask first where the winds are goneA
Wineing the ghosts of yester yearC
