Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIIBJKLMBI ANOPQRSTSUAQVRBWS

IA
The narrow streets cut into the wide highway at ChoanB
Dark oxen white horsesC
drag on the seven coaches with outridersD
The coaches are perfumed woodE
The jewelled chair is held up at the crosswayF
Before the royal lodgeG
A glitter of golden saddles awaiting the princessH
They eddy before the gate of the baronsI
The canopy embroidered with dragonsI
drinks in and casts back the sunB
Evening comesJ
The trappings are bordered with mistK
The hundred cords of mist are spread throughL
and double the treesM
Night birds and night womenB
Spread out their sounds through the gardensI
-
IIA
Birds with flowery wing hovering butterfliesN
crowd over the thousand gatesO
Trees that glitter like jadeP
terraces tinged with silverQ
The seed of a myriad huesR
A net work of arbours and passages and covered waysS
Double towers winged roofsT
border the net work of waysS
A place of felicitous meetingU
Riu's house stands out on the skyA
with glitter of colourQ
As Butei of Kan had made the high golden lotusV
to gather his dewsR
Before it another house which I do not knowB
How shall we know all the friendsW
whom we meet on strange roadwaysS
