Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGGHIJKLMNABGG GLOE

Aye I am a poet and upon my tombA
Shall maidens scatter rose leavesB
And men myrtles ere the nightC
Slays day with her dark swordD
-
'Lo this thing is not mineE
Nor thine to hinderF
For the custom is full oldG
And here in Nineveh have I beheldG
Many a singer pass and take his placeH
In those dim halls where no man troublethI
His sleep or songJ
And many a one hath sung his songsK
More craftily more subtle souled than IL
And many a one now doth surpassM
My wave worn beauty with his wind of flowersN
Yet am I poet and upon my tombA
Shall all men scatter rose leavesB
Ere the night slay lightG
With her blue swordG
-
It is not Raana that my song rings highestG
Or more sweet in tone than any but that IL
Am here a Poet that doth drink of lifeO
As lesser men drink wineE
