- Shall Become As - Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHIG IJKLM IGNBO HCGGH PQRSB TBOUD

You put this penA
in my hand and youB
take the pen fromC
my hand the nightD
before the full moonE
-
the moon seemsF
full what is missingG
is a dark hungryH
sickle the sliverI
of shadow eatingG
-
us up inside afterI
the mountains breatheJ
their mint and sorrowK
green against the longL
summer sky they burstM
-
into hot octoberI
laughter lightingG
the horizon with citrusN
rust and blood youB
put this knife in myO
-
hand we pull weH
meet as oceans comeC
together heavingG
against and clingingG
across our salt wateryH
-
boundary we approachP
endlessly like two railsQ
of one track tiedR
in a parallel thatS
promises our eyes toB
-
merge someplace farT
off in the distance youB
put this feather in myO
palm my fingersU
close around flightD
