Wave-won Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH JJKLLK MMNOON PPCQQC CCRSSS

To night I hunger soA
Beloved one to knowA
If you recall and crave again the dreamB
That haunted our canoeC
And wove its witchcraft throughC
Our hearts as 'neath the northern night we sailed the northern streamB
-
Ah dear if only weD
As yesternight could beD
Afloat within that light and lonely shellE
To drift in silence tillF
Heart hushed and lulled and stillF
The moonlight through the melting air flung forth its fatal spellE
-
The dusky summer nightG
The path of gold and whiteG
The moon had cast across the river's breastH
The shores in shadows cladI
The far away half sadI
Sweet singing of the whip poor will all soothed our souls to restH
-
You trusted I could feelJ
My arm as strong as steelJ
So still your upturned face so calm your breathK
While circling eddies curledL
While laughing rapids whirledL
From boulder unto boulder till they dashed themselves to deathK
-
Your splendid eyes aflameM
Put heaven's stars to shameM
Your god like head so near my lap was laidN
My hand is burning whereO
It touched your wind blown hairO
As sweeping to the rapids verge I changed my paddle bladeN
-
The boat obeyed my handP
Till wearied with its grandP
Wild anger all the river lay aswoonC
And as my paddle dippedQ
Thro' pools of pearl it slippedQ
And swept beneath a shore of shade beneath a velvet moonC
-
To night again dream youC
Our spirit winged canoeC
Is listening to the rapids purling pastR
Where in delirium reeledS
Our maddened hearts that kneeledS
To idolize the perfect world to taste of love at lastS
